Summary of the Book:A Lot Like Love...A Li’l Like Chocolate is a story of two teenagers, Arnika and Shadab. It is a seemingly rosy love story, which, in this tech savvy age, blossoms with the help of Facebook and Blackberry. The relationship starts when they are both very young, in the 12th standard. But soon, this young relationship gets stronger, and both are committed to each other. Then comes the twist, a point in their lives where their relationship may not survive the test of time. Both have to fly off to different universities and countries to pursue their career and ambitions. Arnika wishes to pursue her education and career in New York, and Shadab wishes to go to Delhi for his education.
Both decide to pursue their dreams and continue their relationship. The lovers promise to be together, despite the distance between them, and they plan out what seems to be an easy to handle long distance relationship. They are determined to make this long distance relationship work. There are plans, and promises, promises of love and fidelity, plans to keep in touch through Skype, even a list of do’s and dont’s. But, will this work?
The lovers are determined, but can love be planned so well and so easily? Initially everything seems perfect, just as per the plan. But, gradually, the distance starts affecting the young lovers, and their relationship. There are doubts, suspicions, misunderstandings, arguments and fights. What seemed to be a perfect plan seems to be losing its efficacy. Questions appear on the truth of the relationship. Is it love, or is it not? Will it work or will it not?
Will this relationship be able to stand the test of time? Does distance make the heart grow fonder? Or does it make lovers grow apart? Can Arnika and Shadab put up with the pressures of a long-distance relationship? Will they be able to keep their promises of love and fidelity?
